An Opportunity to Join Us

Ending Life’s Taboo is evolving to increase flexibility of service to support more clients and their family members.

We are looking for self-employed and/or volunteer counsellors to join our small, friendly team.

Opportunities are available for on-site support at Ipswich Hospital, off-site support (online or by phone), or a combination of both. If you are only able to offer one of these options, that is absolutely fine — we would still be very pleased to hear from you. CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS: 20 FEBRUARY 2026

Self-Employed Counsellors or Volunteer Counsellors Needed | Palliative Support for Adults Aged 18–45

£70 per session or Volunteer

Are you a compassionate, skilled counsellor who wants to make a real impact—one meaningful conversation at a time? We’re a dedicated palliative counselling charity working with young and mid-life adults (18–45) across secondary care settings, and we’re looking for self-employed counsellors who feel called to support people navigating some of life’s most challenging moments.

Why Work With Us?

  • Make a profound difference: Support clients living with life-shortening conditions, helping them find emotional stability, connection, and hope.
  • Be part of something bigger: Join a small warm, values-driven team committed to providing equitable, compassionate care.
  • Secondary care environment with an honorary contract: Offer in-depth emotional support within hospital and specialist care pathways, making counselling accessible when clients need it most.
  • Shape your schedule: As a self-employed practitioner, you maintain autonomy while contributing to a collaborative and supportive service.
  • Grow with purpose: Access reflective practice, peer support, and opportunities to expand your clinical skills within palliative and complex emotional care.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Qualified counsellors or psychotherapists (minimum diploma level)
  • Registered or working toward registration with a recognised professional body (e.g., BACP/UKCP)
  • Experience in palliative care, trauma, grief, long-term illness, or complex emotional presentations is beneficial—but a compassionate, grounded approach is essential
  • Self-employed practitioners who can offer consistent/rapid session availability

If you’re ready to use your skills where they matter most—and be part of a service that honours humanity, dignity, and emotional wellbeing—we’d love to hear from you.

Email endinglifestaboo@outlook.com for an application pack and/or further information.

Help us support those facing the hardest chapters of life with courage, warmth, and connection.
